SUPER-8-EKOTRONIC

Super-8-Ekotronic is a new venture we, and by we I mean me, are (is) promoting.
Using the simplest of gear, a Tascam 688 8 track recording studio you can achieve the nastiest cheapest sounding recordings you ever heard. For examples just listen to The Bonnevilles tracks on my audio player or buy the new Bonnevilles album (due out July '08), I think you should do that yeah thats the best idea.

IF YOU CAN DO IT LIVE, YOU CAN DO IT WITH US

Employing the idea that putting a microphone in front of your amp/kit/mouth and pressing record is enough and processing after the big red button has been pressed is for wastrels, usually Metallers with more money than sense (I've never heard a drum kit sound like that). I know this may sound completely insane to some but thats how people used to record and I like it.

The Audio-Industrial complex is the third most powerful entity on planet earth after the Amish and Lidl, they sell us stuff we don't need, we've been led to believe that our artistry can be improved by buying "stuff", and have convinced some that their music is lacking because you didn't buy the latest digital nerval grunge pump or whatever. Well here at Super-8-Ekotonic we (I) say pish and poop to that, the most important stage in the recording process is the very first one, the one were you write the song, if thats no good then no amount of processing and polishing can save you. Bearing this in mind we (I) can always blame you for writing a shit song when you eventually try and blame us (me) for fucking up your album.

THINGS YOU ARE LIKELY TO HEAR AT SUPER-8-EKOTRONIC

1 "who the fuck do you think you are, Phil Collins?"
2 "no, its shit because your shit, not because I don't have a Line 6 pod you cunt"
3 "Jesus wept Pink fucking Floyd could've done it quicker than that, and thats with the mental one"
4 "If you spend any longer tuning that thing |'m going to kill you"
5 "don't touch that, we (I) got it out of a skip and its still a bit..um..whiffy"
6 "never send a drummer to do a mans job"
7 "sorry, have you just met your guitar for the first time, fucking do it right you dildo"
8 "what are you? the worlds first living brain donor, no I can't make you sound like Metallica
9 "Yes its hissy but the hiss is in tune, stop fucking whining"

THINGS YOU WILL NOT HEAR AT SUPER-8-EKOTRONIC

1 "First, lets all go into the meditation garden to centre ourselves"
2 "If he wants to change the lyrics now then let him, its his voice and its going to be heard forever, Lentil anyone?
3 "Drum triggers are great, they make everyone sound the same"
4 "15 mics on the drum kit may seem a lot, but your paying for this and you want it right don't you?

EQUIPMENT LIST

******The most important thing is the Tascam 688, its a cassette based portastudio and by portastudio I mean two burly bricklayers can lift it. This thing was made back in the 80's and was and still is considered the best cassette portastudio ever made.

******A load of mics, Sm58s' and 57s', an old Technics condenser and a couple of cheap condensers' . I'd love to buy a load of old classic mics but can't so I use the best I can afford, which are shit. But I find that the Shures' are a general cure all, if they were good enough for Chess records and Willie Dixon they're good enough for me.

******For mastering I use an Apple Mac running Cubase and T-racks

Here at Super-8-Ekotronic we (I) can give you a Trashy, lo-fi, dirty recording, but broadcast quality (but who the fuck would broadcast you, right?) I'm not going to give you something you can't use, if your the right sort of band for us we're (I'm) right for you. But please bear in mind the limitations of the technology, Re: point 8 above. Also, I can come to you, the joys of the portastudio and two burly brickies.

PRICING
Cheap, get in touch. Seriously though, I'm based in Northern Ireland so rememebr that but God damn it if your willing to pay for it I'm willing to do it, and flights are cheap these days.

Most of the bands I get to hear could do with a bit of dirt in their music, trying to achieve that polished studio sound is not the right thing for everyone, and your not going to get it on a £200 a day budget anyway. Its time to face reality kids, most of you are never gonna get to play on the Ready Steady Go! or whatever you kids listen to nowadays, so fuck it I say, come down here a roll around in the dirt with us pigs for a while, its warm and fuzzy and who knows you may have so fun.

Remember this, I've been fucking up my career for 10 years so you don't have to.

Take it easy you dogs

Hi Everybody,
Andy from Motor Sounds Records here and I hope your all just peachy. At the minute I'm trying to convince my poor brain that
the hangover I forced upon it isn't as bad as all that. St. Patrick must've been a raving alcoholic and a Sadist, the swine, insisting
all us poor Irish people drink ourselves to within an inch of our lives every year, its the law in Ireland you know!. You should've
seen it around here yesterday, it was a bloody shambles, anyway on to business.

THE ROUTES*****************
First of all, our "Man in Japan" TM Chris Jacks, is back on the band wagon, literally, he's started rehearsing with a new Drummer and
Bass player so hopefully The Routes (or a version of them), will back in business sooner rather than later......

Off point, but I feel this email may be a short one, its taken me so long to get even this far, my hangover is determined to have it revenge.

.......I look forward to hearing them getting their freak on.

THE BONNEVILLES********************
Next up, The Bonnevilles album "Good Suits & Fightin' Boots" is, as you may know due out April 2008, and so
far the early feedback is all in the upper register of fantastic-ness. To hear some of the fantastic-ness you can go to The Bonnevilles
me me me space at www.myspace.com/thebonevilles and have listen to the preview on the player. Also, on a The Bonnevilles tip,
a review of Hardtale Lurgan Blues ep (SOLD OUT) was reviewed in issue 42 of Blues Matters magazine, a huge Blues music
publication in the UK and apparently they really liked the it a lot, I have no way of verifying this as I haven't seen the mag yet, but I'm
assured by one of our moles in England who kindly sent me this text message yesterday.

"Great revue of "HARDTALE" in Blues Matters magazine issue 42. Prepare for the rush on the album, eh?! Nice one cheers Andy!

If and when I see the mag I shall share the review with you. I also must take this opportunity to congratulate the texter (on my phone he's
known as TEE SHIRT CHAP because I owe him a tee shirt) on his thoughtful efforts and his punctuation in a text message, something
which I endevour to maintain myself and should only be encouraged. Blues Matters magazine are also doing a little piece on the band
in the next issue so I'll get me hands on that and share it with you next month.

TEXT MESSAGING*****************
As I've brought the subject up already I may as well get it off my chest. If you must send me a text message, which I welcome,
please send it to me in English not text gibberish. I do understand that the method allows teenagers to have multiple meaningless
conversations at the same time and assists in the ignoring and driving mad of parents, all worthwhile pursuits I'm sure, but the time
you save in typing it I lose in the reading of it. By the way my mobile/cell number is (UK 0044) (0) 7849 806080.

GIGS WITH THE SUPER SEXY THE BONNEVILLES & D-66**************
Check out the attached poster kids (there's a nudie woman on it), but heres the skinny. The Bonnevilles & D-66 are playing 3 gigs
in Ireland at the end of April, Derry, Belfast and Cork on the 25th, 26th & 27th respectively, you really must try and get to one of the
gigs, they'll be legendary I'm sure. Punk Blues extravaganza.

DEAD BY MONO RECORDS***************
Our good friends at Dead By Mono Records are going to be selling our supercool music from their site very soon.
Swing on by and buy some stuff at http://www.deadbymono.com they're lovely people and smell good too.

TEE SHIRTS**********
I know, I know, I've said it before but this time on my eyes I've finally sorted the t-shirt supply debacle. We've decided
to set up our own screen print shop, cool eh! We'll have the first designs ready in a week or two, they will be the best
of quality shirts and every design will be guaranteed to make you feel like a saucy little upstart.

Watch this space---------> <--------------. We will also be hooring ourselves for outside work so if you need shirts done
do get in touch.

Stay in touch boys and girls and get your selves strapped in for the global recession its going to be a wild ride.
Hot Diiiiiammmn.

Mail Out number 11 (if you want to be put on the mailing list get in touch through the contacts page)

Hi Everybody
I'm Andy from Motor Sounds Records, you might know me from other classic Motor Sounds Records mail outs such as "Motor Sounds Records mail out 10" or who can forget "Motor Sounds Records mail out 9" and I wanna tell you about what's going on here at Motor Sounds Towers.

First of all, the wonderful Rusty Springfield album - "Please don't dance whilst holding drinks" is now due to be released in March, the delays were due to extreme incompetence on my part and completely avoidable, I've suitably chastised myself and awarded myself a demerit, one more and I'm out the fucking door.

The album is available now through the website www.motorsoundsrecords.com where you can pick up a free mp3 from the record, and available in the shops from March.

******************Next up, we've booked a few Irish gigs for THE BONNEVILLES & [D-66], its a real double wammy, both Punk Blues luminaries (I don't even know what that word means) are rightly delighted at getting to play a few dates together, The Bonnevilles are using the dates to launch their debut album "Good Suits and Fighting Boots" and it will be [D-66]s' first time playing in Ireland, so if you want to have a uniquely sleazy experience, you should try and get to one of these gigs.

APRIL 25th 2008 - Derry City, Ireland - Beatnik Soul Venue TBA
APRIL 26th 2008 - Belfast, Ireland - Venue TBA
APRIL 27th 2008 - Cork CIty, Ireland - Gypsy Hotel @ The Crane Lane theatre

************** Also as I've mentioned already, The Bonnevilles are due to release the old debut on Motor Sounds Records in April, titled "Good Suits and Fighting Boots" various gigs, tours, shows and what have you will be arranged to hawk the damn thing to try and make some money back and who knows, maybe we'll pull ourselves off the bottom of the top 50 list "HOW TO RUN A RECORD LABEL INTO THE GROUND". I believe we're currently vying for 50th position with the bloke that signed Sigue Sigue Sputnik and the fella who said Rock n Roll wouldn't last when turning down The Beatles.

Come on kids with your help we can regain a sliver of dignity, unlikely, but try we must.

*************Chris Jacks, the genius that is The Routes is working on a new material and should see something for us all to enjoy later on in the year as is Craig Campbell of Rock n Roll Monkey and the Robots, both will hopefully be putting something out on Motor Sounds Records, so stay tuned for that.

Thats all the news for now kids. I hope you can make it to a few shows and buy lots and lots of our records.

Stay in touch and be cool

The Bonnevilles (N.I) & D-66 (London) Double Header

The Bonnevilles, Garage PunkBlues Duo are releasing their debut album "Good Suits and Fightin' Boots"(after the Hardtale Lurgan Blues EP sold out in 4 months) on Motor Sounds Records April 2008 and are embarking on a few dates in Ireland with D-66 one man PunkBlues band from London.

Both these outfits are at the top of their game and reinventing the blues in their own inimitable styles, this isn't safe and if you expect to hear some of the "Same Old Blues Crap" you won't find it here. Between them they have toured the UK, Ireland and Europe and played in some of the best and coolest club nights around, including Artrocker (London) The Dirty Water (London), Gypsy Hotel (Ireland and England), Psychotic Reaction (Dublin), The Spitz(London), Not The Same Old Blues Crap (London) Beatnik Soul (Derry) Stomping Ground (Dublin) and many others.

THE BONNEVILLES "C'mon" climaxed the set, a modern Ghost Dance conjuring up the spirits of long-dead bluesmen..Elmore James, Robert Johnston and Son House, all taken by the Hellhound in return for a lasting legacy, and no doubt nodding approval at this 21st century interpretation of their vision, still true, but pushing it a little further down the road. Andy's slide guitar slowly drags along, creating an authentic delta sludge, the vocal calling out from another age. The feet just won't keep still under this assault, where riff follows riff in huge sonic waves. Just one cover, "Baby Please Don't Go", which remarkably pales alongside the band's original material. I really can't wait to hear them again.
Eamon P. Keynes – Fastfude

D-66 With incessant bass drum and snare (courtesy of a tamborine around the heel and stomp on a baking tray),grizzled looking, sounding and - presumably -smelling like a one-man-blooze-show , [D-66] starts off like the white stripes , if jack got bored with carrying meg and decided to replace her with his shoes. with his tom waits growl [D-66] delivers rasping blues good enough to make you question weather it really is a spent force ,before pummelling into frenzied psycho-billy. after a while someone joins him onstage to control a primitive sounding drum-machine for a quasi-industrial noise out, all the more effective for it's juxtaposition with the organic solo act and at least 50 x better than The Kills…. ARTROCKER MAGAZINE

We need to fill the following date and only need £............ per gig (in total for both bands) including expenses, digs would be appreciated if possible (a floor to lay out weary heads on would be fine) if not possible no worries.

April Fri 25th 2008 BEATNIK SOUL - DERRY CITY, IRELAND
April Sat 26th 2008 BELFAST, IRELAND (venue TBA)
April Sun 27th 2008 Free date

We promise a unique show, it wouldn't be boastful to say, the like of which was never before seen in Ireland. If you can book any of the dates get in touch ASAP and if you know anyone who can put another date please do pass this Doc. on to them.

Cheers
Andy

Hi everybody,
I've finally finished putting some tracks on our Last.FM page, a complete fucking pain in the arse let me tell you, I swear to God when I go on the internoodle i am desirous of it to be similar to looking at pornography, click mouse and look+/listen. Every time I visit some great idea of a site these days I gotta "LEARN" how to do it, Jesus give me a fucking break with the education man. I don't need to know. I thought the whole point of the net was that I didn't need to learn anymore, Christ no fucker lives up to billing these days.

Here are more lies
*LAP TOPS WILL EASE YOUR WORK LOAD (actually enables you to work from home)
*AUTOMATION WILL MAKE YOUR JOB EASIER (removes well paid skilled physical labour from the marketplace *read Fast Food Nation 2003)
*GOVERNMENT LOOKS AFTER TAX PAYERS INTERESTS (you have in fact tagged yourself as a sap that will do as its told)
*THE POLICE SERVE THE COMMUNITY (the police serve the government, making our police force politicised and a politicised police force is a bad police force)

Anyhoo, check out http://www.last.fm/label/Motor+Sounds+Records/ it seems to be important I personally don't see it but there ya go. Be Good Kids, I love ya' (in a, I'd letcha buy me a drink kinda way)

CHRIS JACKS
First piece of news is Chris Jacks, the English/Japanese hybrid wunderkind, is currently working on a new one man band project, I've heard some demos and they sound amazing, so much so we're gonna be putting them out on our limited edition series later on in the year. So look forward to that, they'll be greeeeeeaat.

THE BONNEVILLES
Next up and most un-immportantly, The Bonnevilles album is coming on so slowly its a frigging joke, but we'll get there God damn it. Oh and before I forget the missing 'N' has been added so The Bonevilles are dead long live The Bonnevilles, shaaamon.

THE ROUTES
Sadly original founding band member Masao Nakayama will be leaving The Routes due to a change of job, and relocation to Tokyo in November. Masao was very important in creating The Routes sound, and he will be sorely missed as a friend, and a drummer by both Chris and Toru. Without Masao The Routes would NEVER have happened! We would like to say thank you to Masao for his friendship, dedication, and skill. We would like to wish both Masao and his wife Tomoko, best wishes, love, and happiness for the future. Chris and Toru xxx

On a happy note we would like to welcome Masaji Hirano as our new drummer. His live debut will be The Nervous Wreck Munsters Void single release party on 22nd December, Decadent Deluxe, Fukuoka.

Chris Jacks, of The Routes fame, is also plying his trade as a one man band these days, he's got a load of gigs booked with himself his right foot and his left foot

24th November 2007, Tropicoco Cafe, Nakatsu, Oita Japan
16th December 2007, Zeccho-Ten, Decadent Deluxe, Fukuoka, Japan

Expect new material, some Facials tunes, and some Routes, if you can make any I'd urge you to do so, I heard the rehearsal tapes and they're right outta the top drawer, there's only one Chris Jacks. We will also be releasing some of his one man band material on our legendary limited edition series, some time in 2008. So make sure you grab one of those when the time comes.

ONE CHORD & A BROKEN TOOTH
Just to let you know that we're planning on releasing a new compilation album some time next year to rival our amazing "BLOOD ON THE SCRATCHPLATE '65" (we only have a few of those left by the way). The idea is to make an album of the best Punk Blues bands and individuals in the world with the working title of "ONE CHORD AND A BROKEN TOOTH". So we're accepting submissions for this from now.

****PLEASE NOTE****
If you don't know what punk blues is then you probably don't fit the bill, so please feel free to get in touch but unless you really are PunkBlues then you won't get on this comp, you can send in any demos etc you may like as we are planning to release a more encompassing album at some point in the future. EVEL KNIEVEL R.I.P.

Evel Knievel, bank robber and daredevil, one of my few childhood heros died today the 30th of November of Liver failure. (for more about the bank robbing bit, read a biography)

When I was a wee kid I had three heros, Muhammad Ali, Bruce Lee and Evel Knievel. I had a huge Evel poster on my wall and let me tell you in war torn Northern Ireland, American daredevil posters are not easy to come by (thanks Aunt Jackie)

When I left Northern Ireland at 16 to make my own way in life I became a bit of a daredevil myself, there was pretty much nothing I wouldn't jump off, be it cliffs into the sea or jumps off mountains on mountain bikes. I had no regard for my own safety, broke many bones and escaped certain death by luck rather than skill, and often thought of Evel as I lay in a bloodied heap, until I had a real biggy and was genuinely lucky to not die, I never got my guts back from that one....Evel would have, in fucking spades.

He knew he had zero to no chance of making most of those stupid fucking jumps, but did it anyway, some say its stupid I disagree, its the what if? maybe I can, how the fuck else is a hick from Butte Montana going too make name for himself.

In the end his injuries got him, but that will be said of us all, some people thought him a fool, not me, he was a living God.

His manager said "It's been coming for years, but you just don't expect it. Superman just doesn't die, right?"

He said "No king or prince has lived a better life,"

Evel Knievel, Rest In Peace from an 8 year old kid in Northern Ireland.

P.S. Oh and I haven't robbed a bank....yet...but I will, and when I do I know Evel will be with me.
